Skunks and traps
My good friend Zach was able to get his dog into a skunk, obviously to test the concoction of "Nature's Miracle." We shall wait on the results.
Figure two trap? What the heck is that? Actually, that is exactly what I tried. Get a flat rock, two sticks, and then support one upright underneath this contraption, but as a trigger, use another stick under the side pressing down on the rock. What I did wrong, was to put the trigger on the BOTTOM of the upright stick, not the top. And to top it off, I didn't put a "tumble" rock in there. I'd love to be able to draw a picture, but I shall not try here.
I think both skunk scent removal and trapping little critters is pretty important. I imagine the best thing for that is to lean a log against a heavily used squirrel tree and then hang snares all over the thing. When they get caught, they will fight until they fall...essentially hanging themselves. But, to one's lost is another gain. If you find yourself in a situation that requires you to succumb to such measures, it's probably a good idea to know how to do it. Plus, your other option is grubs and creepy crawlies. I'll take a squirrel or rabbit over that any day.
In the woods, I think the very best thing you can do is have practiced making fire with, if nothing else, flint and steel. And then to be able to use material in the woods to collect some kind of edible "goodies." That is something that is worth a bit of time to perfect. I obviously learned a lesson there, and then did the research. So, hopefully, I shall be able to learn how to catch the critters. The flint and steel thing? No worries. (It's easier than you think.)
Skunks? Well. The solution for that is entirely personal. Just good stuff to know.
